Forgotten Attachments Detector

I love the fact when Gmail notifies me whenever i try to send an E-mail without a subject, but Gmail is planing to introduce a new feature now the "Forgotten Attachment Detector".

Few days ago i wrote a long E-mail and i mentioned that attached to this E-Mail will be some documents. and then i suddenly hit the "Send" button before attaching the documents, so i had to resend another E-mail apologizing and making sure the documents are attached.

The new feature in Gmail will allow you to either turn it on or off. and in case you have chosen to set it ON. so every time you mention in your message that you will attach something, or something is supposed to be attached to the message, Gmail will check if anything is attached , if not ... it will notify you to make sure all attachments are in place.

That sounded easy to implement and yet very helpful.
why nobody else thought about it before, somebody like Hotmail, Yahoo, Or even me :P

what is new in HTML 5

HTML 5 represents the biggest leap forward in web standards in almost a decade. Unlike the specifications that came before it, HTML 5 is not merely intended to present content to a web browser. Its goal is to bring the web into maturity as a full-fledged application platform — a level playing field where video, sound, images, animations, and full interactivity with your computer are all standardized. And it may be a long way off still, but elements of HTML 5 are already reshaping the way we use the web.

What's new in HTML 5 ?
  • A new, sensible tagging strategy. Instead of bundling all multimedia into object or embed tags, video goes in video tags. Audio goes in audio tags, and so on.
  • Localized databases. This feature, when implemented, automatically embeds a local SQL database websites can read and write to, speeding up interactive searching, cacheing and indexing functions, or for offline use of web apps that rely on data requests.
  • Rich animations without plug-ins. The canvas element gives the browser the ability to draw vector graphics. This means configurable, automatic graphs and illustrations right in the browser without Flash or Silverlight. Some support for canvas is already in all the latest browsers except for IE.
  • Real apps in the browser. APIs for in-browser editing, drag and drop, back button “waypoints,” and other graphical user interface abilities.
  • Content presentation tags will be phased out, and CSS will rule.

HP's New OS

HP unsurprisingly isn't ready to touch this one in any sort of official way just yet, but BusinessWeek is reporting that at least some folks at the company are "exploring the possibility of building a mass-market operating system," which would be positioned as an alternative to Vista. That OS, as you might have guessed, would be based on Linux, although BusinessWeek's sources say it "would be simpler and easier for mainstream users." By all indications, however, this so-called "skunk works team" within HP doesn't seem to have moved much beyond the brainstorming stage, and HP is sticking strictly to its official line that it is more interested in "innovating on top of Vista," with HP chief technology officer Phil McKinney even going so far as to say that the idea that it's funding a huge R&D team to go off and create an operating system "makes no sense."
